Since 2001, Lifelong Learning Account (LiLA) demonstrations and pilot programs have been launched in states, regions and cities across the county. These sites have adapted the LiLA model to leverage local resources and administrative structures to meet the needs of participating workers. These sites include:
- CAEL’s multi-site LiLA demonstration, which took place from 2001 to 2007. This demonstration attracted 359 participants, and 37 employers, in Chicago (restaurant industry); Northeast Indiana (public sector and manufacturing industry); and San Francisco (healthcare industry). Read more.
- State of Maine LiLA Program, which is being administered by the Maine Department of Labor and linked to the state’s 529 program and career centers. Read more.
