Taking It To The States

With support from Lumina Foundation for Education, the Council for Adult and Experiential Learning (CAEL) is making available through a competitive process one grant of $75,000 to one state–based team that is planning or beginning to implement a Lifelong Learning Account (LiLA) initiative.

This one-time funding will be awarded for a 14-month period, running from September 1, 2007 through October 31,2008. It is intended to help the state team leverage additional resources in support of a LiLA initiative by requiring a 100% match, i.e., $75,000, which may come from state or federal funds, philanthropic funds, private funds, or other.

This grant may be used for planning, start-up, and/or implementation of the LiLA initiative. In addition to the grant, CAEL also will provide up to five days of technical assistance to assist the state team with its LiLA initiative.

Eligible applicants include a state-based team, led by a government agency or organization. Details on acceptable membership can be found in the RFP.

Parties interested in responding to the Request for Proposals (RFP) should read it carefully, participate in conference calls for applicants as necessary, submit a letter of intent to apply, and submit a proposal.
