For anyone who is interested in addressing the ongoing jobs challenge that the US is facing – and in particular how the education and training communities can be positive forces – I highly recommend “The Great Jobs Debate,” a discussion initiated by the Atlantic and McKinsey and Company. I am inspired by the range of ideas from across the spectrum. Most vexing to me is the reality that we continue to experience skills shortages while so many remain unemployed. Likewise, the solutions that seem most strategic are those that help people make good decisions about how to link an investment in learning with career goals that are meaningful, reasonable and attainable.
