Step 3: Adult-Centered Implementation

Assessment

Individual assessments are important activities at both the start and end of a learning initiative. At the start of a program, assessments can help individuals better define their goals, help place them in the appropriate level of training and even help them earn credits for what they already know through innovations like Prior Learning Assessment. Using the same skill assessment process both before and after training can verify that the learning initiative was successful in developing the competencies and knowledge of the individual. This can be important for validating the training itself (Level 2 of the Evaluation process, as described later in the report) and for communicating to prospective employers the skills that an individual could bring to the workplace.
