Led Delegation Attends International Seminar On Economic and
Employment Development HANOI, Vietnam – A delegation
of U.S. Department of Labor officials and representatives
from academic institutions and business participated in a
conference sponsored in cooperation with Vietnam’s Ministry
of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA). Douglas F.
Small, deputy assistant secretary of labor for employment
and training, headed the U.S. delegation and joined Ambassador
Michael W. Marine in Vietnam for the conference on economic
and workforce development.

August, 2006 - CAEL Recommends Prior Learning
Assessment (PLA) Initiative as a Key Strategy in the Creation
of "Job Ready" Pennsylvania. A new Pennsylvania
state-supported initiative that offers continuing-education
credits for learning gained through life experience will follow
six recommendations made by CAEL. CAEL’s field and interview
research on Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) policy and practice
within the commonwealth provided the basis for this new state-wide
effort under the direction of Governor Rendell’s "Job
Ready PA" workforce development initiative.
