Learn about Prior Learning Assessment (PLA)
Without leaving your desk!
How can your institution attract and retain adults who want to continue their education? One way is to offer PLA, a process by which institutions award college credit for what people learn outside the classroom.
Learn more about PLA through this Webinar series, sponsored by the Council for Adult and Experiential Learning (CAEL), a leader in PLA for over 35 years.
We first offered this webinar in the spring of 2009, May and June, and it was very well received. We are offering it again for CAEL colleagues who missed that opportunity.
The interactive webinar format will be:
Session 1:
- An introduction to PLA and the various formats
- A discussion of the portfolio method in general
- Questions and Discussion
Session 2:
- Review of the assessment process and the homework assignment
- Overview of the ten CAEL standards (academic and administrative); other PLA resources
- Questions and Discussion
The webinar series consists of two two-hour sessions. All sessions will be from 2-4 p.m. EASTERN time. The webinar series will be on June 24 & July 1, 2010.
CAEL members save! The cost for the webinar is:
Stimulus Pricing -- Same low prices as 2009!!
| CAEL Members: |
$250 for the two session series |
| Non-Members: |

Included in the cost of the webinar series, is a copy of CAEL’s recently released publication, Prior Learning Portfolios: A Representative Collection (Hart & Hickerson, CAEL 2009). The book which contains, on a CD-Rom, thirteen portfolio examples from eleven institutions, will be sent prior to the first webinar session to allow for some advanced reading. Participants will review some of these portfolios and discuss them in depth during the Webinar.
