Nominate Learners and Leaders

Rashaan Green, CAEL's 2018 Learner of the Year

Who is a Learner of the Year?

CAEL’s Learner of the Year is someone who has successfully navigated the winding path that adult students face on the road to meeting their educational goals. The Learner of the Year’s journey exemplifies our conviction that, with the right support system and drive, all adults can succeed in higher education.

The Learner of the Year Award is presented annually by CAEL to an individual who has overcome multiple barriers and has successfully returned to a learning environment. This award is given not only to recognize and celebrate the individual learner and his or her own commendable achievements, but also those of the millions of other adults striving for excellence in higher education.

You may know one of these unique and inspiring individuals, and if so now is your chance to amplify their story at the 2019 CAEL Conference. Submit a completed form at the bottom of the page and your nominee will be entered for consideration. A nominee will be selected and notified by August 2019.

The 2019 Learner of the Year will receive:

  • A stipend from CAEL and a plaque
  • Paid travel expenses, two complimentary nights at the conference hotel and waived conference registration fees
  • An article featuring the Learner of the Year Award recipient will appear on CAEL.org

The award recipient will make a brief acceptance speech at the award luncheon.
