CAEL Featured in The Kresge Foundation 2015 Annual Report: Using the Right Tools for Social Change

Posted by Debra Steele

Topics: Adult Student Success, Adult Learning

In 2015, the Kresge Foundation provided 370 grants and 9 social investments in the areas of arts and culture, education, environment, health and human services and the city of Detroit to promote human progress and expand opportunity in America’s cities. These investments totaled $145.5 million.

CAEL was very fortunate to be the recipient of one of the social investments. Generous foundations, like the Kresge Foundation, help us to further our mission of providing adult learners with the services and tools they need to expand opportunities for learning, employability and career success.

The Kresge Foundation, working with other funding partners, made a $2 million low-interest loan to CAEL through its Social Investment Practice in partnership with Kresge’s Education Program. The loan has helped to fund the successful expansion of LearningCounts in Michigan and Texas.

CAEL and LearningCounts are featured in their annual report in the article – Social Investing: Giving (College) Credit Where It’s Deserved. Click here to see the full report and to learn about the impact The Kresge Foundation has made to drive social change across the nation.
