The workshops provide case studies and use scenarios to explore the experience of portfolio assessment, and participants complete practice exercises using student-developed portfolios.

Participants will also refine the skills and understanding necessary to assess portfolios through interactions in the large group setting, as well as individual and small group exercises.

 

Participants who complete the course requirements will obtain a CAEL Faculty Assessor Certificate upon workshop completion.

Course Objectives

  • Explore the various forms of PLA, with a focus on learning portfolios
  • Examine best practices in PLA

Course Outcomes

  • Identify and explain principles and value of experiential learning
  • Advocate to various audiences the value of PLA
  • Describe and utilize the steps, tools and procedures in the PLA process, with an emphasis on portfolio development
  • Apply the CAEL Ten Standards for Assessing Learning in PLA

Online Delivery

The faculty assessor training workshop is four weeks long and offered online. It can be purchased by individuals or by universities and colleges who are looking to purchase a cohort for their faculty.
