CAEL 2018 International Conference Call for Proposals
CAEL seeks presenters for the CAEL 2018 International Conference. We invite submissions that expand the understanding of how to best support adult and other underserved learners, and the rapidly evolving workforce, to help them reach educational and professional development goals. The submission deadline is March 31, 2018.
It may seem as though the CAEL 2017 International Conference only just ended, but we’re already setting our sights on this year’s convening, to be held in Cleveland November 13-16. Each year, the CAEL International Conference brings together hundreds of presenters, exhibitors and attendees from across workforce development, for- and non-profit sectors, and government, to make learning more accessible.
Now, we’re looking for proposals for presentations that will inform and inspire attendees at the CAEL 2018 International Conference.
Prospective presenters may choose to present in one of the below formats:
- Workshop: 75 minutes; separate room; option for use of A/V - PowerPoint, video, etc.
- Roundtable: 45 minutes; multiple presentations in one large room concurrently; No A/V
- Quickfire Presentation: seven minutes; no more than 14 slides, no smaller than 28pt font; multiple presentations will be scheduled in one room in sequence
Workshop proposals should fall into one of the following tracks:
- How to Attract and Retain Adult Learners - Topics may include: advising adult learners; marketing PLA and adult friendly programs; strategies for attracting and retaining adult learners
- Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) Programs - Topics may include: how offering PLA benefits the learner, the institution, the employer and society; model programs for portfolio development, including on-line programs; gaining institutional acceptance for PLA
- New Directions in Adult Learning - Topics may include: new research studies on adult learning, experiential learning and prior learning assessment; using adult learning theory when serving adult learners; opportunities for older workers
- Competency-Based Education and Competency-Based Assessment - Topics may include: how offering CBE benefits the learner, the institution, the employer and society; how to adopt or develop CBE programs; model CBE or CBE Assessment programs
- Innovative Policies Supporting Adult Learning - Topics may include: innovative practices of employee development; financing for part-time students; local, state or national policy to remove barriers to adult learning
- Serving Active Duty Military and Veterans - Topics may include: Veteran or Active Duty Military friendly programs; unique approaches and/or best practices when serving this population; supporting student veterans
- Portfolio Assessment - Topics may include: LearningCounts featured network presentations; guiding students through developing portfolios; portfolio assessment
- Innovating Career Services- Topics may include: Developing partnerships between higher education & employers; leveraging market data to create pathways; continuing education opportunities; career mapping
The deadline to submit proposals is Saturday, March 31st. Presenters will be notified by June 2018.
