Upcoming: May 8th at 2 PM ET

How to Become a Basic Needs-Forward College: A Practical Guide

Join us as we unveil a new, practical guide to help colleges strengthen basic needs supports for students. The People-Centered Design team at SJI will share insights from our work with colleges and conversations with 20+ institutions, researchers, and practitioners nationwide on what makes a college "basic needs-forward." We'll also introduce assessment tools to help colleges evaluate and grow their capacity to provide the essential resources that students need.

You'll learn about:

  • Creating a student-centered experience that prioritizes students' needs, interests, and experiences
  • Seven foundational components necessary for sustainable basic needs supports
  • A process for assessing your current basic needs services
  • Strategies for building institutional capacity that centers student voices
  • Using both qualitative and quantitative data to improve and advocate for basic needs services

This webinar is ideal for higher education administrators, faculty, and staff who want to build institutional capacity that supports students' basic needs in a sustainable way. Participants will leave with concrete tools to assess their institution's current state and chart a path to becoming basic needs-forward.
