The need for clear recruitment communications has been well explored at most institutions, but what happens to all that effort once a student reaches the point of enrolling? As enrollment growth becomes even more critical, it is shocking that institutions have not focused more intentionally on the other element of enrollment - retention.
This webinar will set the stage for further discussion on your campus regarding the issue of student care over the lifecycle of the student. Focusing on creating a more seamless process for communication and support throughout the student lifecycle and keeping the student purposefully engaged throughout their experience. Starting with front-end recruitment communications and continuing on to explore continuous care strategies for currently enrolled students, this session is sure to leave you thinking about student care in an entirely different way.
Participants in this webinar will:
• Review the benefits of a student care approach to retention
• Explore the dramatic differences between recruitment process and retention process for most colleges and universities
• Evaluate a suggested student care lifecycle map that can be used to lead the discussion on your campus
• Consider sample communications that reinforce the student’s decision to enroll, build relationships by means of multiple touch-points, and celebrate success throughout the student lifecycle
Dr. Brenda Harms is an experienced higher education administrator with a diverse marketing and admissions background. Her perspective on higher education marketing and recruitment is strengthened by her hands-on experience serving in both academic and administrative roles in Higher Education. During that time, she was also involved in the development and delivery of accelerated on-campus and online courses.
While Brenda’s primary interest is the recruitment and retention of adult and graduate students, her knowledge and experience relating to higher education has greatly benefited consulting projects focused on institutional marketing, enrollment management, academic program development, research projects, and overall institutional health. She is also an avid speaker, engaging participants at several national conferences, including the CIC, CASE, CAEL, UPCEA, ACHE, NABCA, and CAP. In addition to numerous White Papers, her book, Up to Speed: Marketing to Today's Adult Student, was published in March 2010.
Brenda received a B.S. in allied health and an M.A. in Educational Psychology and Counseling from the University of South Dakota. She received her Ph.D. in Human Services with her dissertation focused specifically on adult student retention. Additionally she has led the development of a national study focused on the motivations and barriers for prospective adult students considering a return to college.
